Lopez claims he did not reject the fight, but Top Rank rejected his counter-offer. The WBO has not given Lopez a mandatory challenger, instead putting him through a line of eliminators. Lopez's public fit when pushed to face a real contender is a bad look. Matias is in position to work his way up the IBF ladder, with Barboza and Catterall going the WBO route.
