Chris Eubank Jr vs Conor Benn

Mike Coppinger claims that Chris Eubank Jr. and Conor Benn are "finalizing" a fight for April 26 in London, suggesting that "crunch time" may have paid off for once. More than two years have passed since Benn (23-0, 14 KO) notably failed a drug test prior to their scheduled meeting, which began a protracted conflict with the UKAD and BBBofC. Numerous conversations have begun and ended during that time, and although Tris Dixon's confirmation of Coppinger's narrative gives reason to think this one has legs, there isn't much reason to be excited. This is blatantly exploiting Benn, who has spent the past year trying and failing to land a big welterweight bout and has looked average in his last two bouts. According to Coppinger, the bout will now be at middleweight instead of the catchweight that was initially scheduled. Since the IBF's 10-pound rehydration limit is still in effect and Eubank Jr. (34-3, 25 KO) has openly declared that he doesn't lose much weight and demonstrated that he could easily meet the suggested limit, I don't buy Eubank Sr.'s rambling about "safety" at all. This indicates that Benn has lost all of his power.
