Promoter Eddie Hearn, like many fans, finds it hard to understand why Manny Pacquiao decided to end his four-year retirement and win the sanctioning body's approval to fight Mario Barrios for his WBC welterweight title on July 19. Hearn is not pleased because the 46-year-old Pacquiao is impeding his attempts to arrange a rematch between Barrios and IBF and WBA 147-pound champion Jaron "Boots" Ennis. He notes that Pacquiao, who hasn't competed since 2021, is "anywhere near the world level." It merely serves as an illustration of the path the sport is now taking.
