Benavidez Rejects Alcatraz Fight: “Takes Away From The Sport

Places like that have limited crowd sizes, and Benavidez (30-0, 24 KOs) would rather fight in venues where a large number of fans may attend rather than just a handful. The Times Square event in New York City was criticized for that reason. Many wealthy, well-known boxers and athletes were among the small, carefully chosen audience. In August or September, Benavidez will square off against Callum Smith and Anthony Yarde. Given that Callum is the current WBO interim 175-pound champion, he appears more interested in facing him. Dmitry Bivol, the unified three-belt champion, is being forced to battle "The Mexican Monster." Boxing him in is the way to achieve that. The problem with Turki is that he insisted on wanting me to fight on Alcatraz in June. And I think of the prison, Alcatraz. To Pound 4 Pound With Kamaru and Henry, David Benavidez stated, "I'm not really trying to do that." Fans who visit or watch on television would find the Alcatraz landscape to be fascinating. For those who haven't been, the vista of San Francisco and the sea make it a lovely place. Fighting on Alcatraz would benefit Benavidez's career because it would garner a lot of publicity. Turki's inventiveness is something I like, but it also detracts from the sport because if you want to hold fights in a certain location, like Times Square or Alcatraz, you're denying the spectators the opportunity to attend. Who will leave? Benavidez stated. The Alcatraz event would mostly be attended by boxing fans from Northern California's Bay Arena. Ferries are needed to get to the island, yet the audience would be bigger than during the Times Square event. Favoring Conventional Arenas "As a fighter, I'm not competing at Alcatraz, but I'll watch. The fights have a certain quality. When asked if he would rather fight at locations like the T-Mobile Arena, Benavidez responded, "You see the fans riled up during fight week." Regarding Alcatraz, Benavidez has already made up his mind. Since whoever takes the lead there would get a lot of attention from all over the world, he might regret turning down this venue. He had a limited perspective, possibly considering it to be a prison at one point, yet fighting would help his career. Benavidez remarked, "You're going to the fights and you see the fans going crazy." Nothing like that exists. I am a warrior of the present day. I enjoy taking in the crowd's energy. You strike someone in the face when you sense the energy. "Oh." "You try to f*** up s*** that has been set for years when you come in boxing." In reference to Turki, Benavidez declared, "It's going to start some s***." "I'm not thrilled with my title being that way with Bivol. I would prefer to win.
