Cody Garbrandt books first fight in 14 months

Cody Garbrandt, the former UFC bantamweight champion, has secured a bout for the June 14 UFC Atlanta card, indicating that he is now prepared to resume his career. On the card that features former welterweight champion Kamaru Usman making his comeback to action against Joaquin Buckley in the five-round main event, Garbrandt is scheduled to take on Raoni Barcelos. The combination was revealed by UFC officials on Sunday, along with additional confirmation that Paul Craig and Renato Bellato's previously postponed fight had been rescheduled for the same June 14 event. The 33-year-old veteran Garbrandt will make his first debut in 2025 after having to withdraw from his most recent bout against Miles John in 2024. Garbrandt eventually dropped off the bill completely after the fight was first booked and then postponed. Garbrandt, who is now healthy and prepared to battle, hopes to go back into the winning column after losing by submission to Deiveson Figueiredo at the historic UFC 300 program. In the meanwhile, Barcelos looks to extend his winning streak to two fights, which includes a stunning victory over highly regarded prospect Payton Talbott at UFC 311 in January. Barcelos has a 3-2 record overall after five fights, with victories over Christian Quinonez and Trevin Jones. The exact bout order for the card has not yet been finalized, but the UFC will return to Atlanta on June 14 at the State Farm Arena.
