Greg Hardy, a former UFC fighter, was arrested on suspicion of abusing a family member

Greg Hardy, an ex-UFC fighter, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a family member in Richardson, Texas, and is presently incarcerated pending arraignment. On Thursday, MMA Fighting received confirmation from jail officials that Hardy was detained and is still being held. Hardy was taken into custody on Wednesday at approximately 2:29 p.m. local time, and he is scheduled to appear before a court on Thursday to have his bond determined. The first to report was TMZ. An arrest report that MMA Fighting was able to get states that Hardy was taken into custody after allegedly getting into a violent argument with his girlfriend. Hardy and his girlfriend "got into a fight and he took her car and left," according to the police. The incident apparently occurred when Hardy's fiancée discovered chats with another lady on his phone and accused him of cheating on her. According to Hardy's girlfriend, when she confronted him, he allegedly told her to leave his face. He "pushed her, with both of his hands on her chest, and she fell onto the bed," according to Hardy's girlfriend. Her "breathing was not restricted nor did she lose consciousness," she says, despite Hardy reportedly holding her down with one of his hands on her neck. Hardy's girlfriend claims that as the fight got more heated, she kicked him to push him away. He then allegedly seized her feet and spun her away from him before stealing the car keys and driving off. According to the police, they noticed "scratches and redness" on her arms, which could indicate a physical altercation. When police contacted Hardy, he admitted to them that he and his girlfriend had a fight about texts on his phone and that she was "poking him in the forehead with her index finger," but that she had not hurt him physically. After he "moved her out of the way and placed her on the bed by grabbing her arms," Hardy told police that he was "adamant nothing else had happened." In response to Islam Makhachev, Jack Della Maddalena says, "Come and get it." In response to Islam Makhachev, Jack Della Maddalena says, "Come and get it." According to the article, police decided to detain Hardy and take him to jail on the charges that were already made public. Hardy, 36, last competed in the UFC in 2022, losing for the third time in a row before his contract was terminated. Naturally, Hardy's football career—during which he played defense for several teams, including the Dallas Cowboys—is what made him most famous. After Hardy was jailed on domestic violence charges in 2014 for allegedly assaulting his then-girlfriend while still in the NFL, his signing with the UFC was immediately greeted with criticism. After Hardy's girlfriend failed to appear for the trial, the charges against him were finally dropped, notwithstanding his original conviction. When police found cocaine in Hardy's car during a traffic stop in 2016, he was also detained on a different charge of felony possession of a prohibited substance.
