Dana White said that Jon Jones "agreed to fight." Tom Aspinall shuts the door on Francis Ngannou's comeback.

Jon Jones is going to fight Tom Aspinall, and Dana White said that this battle will happen soon, unless he hears otherwise. That's what the UFC CEO said in response to the current battle of words between Jones and Aspinall. The fight that everyone is talking about is still just a rumor for now. Aspinall went so far as to call himself the undisputed champion last week and wish Jones luck in retirement. Jones then said he doesn't really care if the UFC takes the heavyweight belt away from him. Jones then said he could like to fight Francis Ngannou next. There's a lot of commotion, but White says Jones has already agreed to fight Aspinall. Now they just need to work out the details. "I've been saying that since the start. At the UFC 316 post-fight press conference, White said, "Jon Jones agreed to do the fight." "Jon Jones was given the bargain and agreed to it. Yes, Jon agreed to fight Tom. "You've heard me talk about this fight for a long time. I promise it's going to happen. This combat is going to take place. You guys told me about all the wild stuff happening on Instagram and other sites, but yeah, I've been stating that Jon is going to fight Tom. White said he hasn't read all of Jones's tweets from the past week, which included his interest in the Ngannou fight. However, he's not worried about what occurs on social media. "Probably not," White answered when asked if Ngannou would come back to the UFC. If Jones has changed his mind and really doesn't want to face Aspinal—or maybe never wants to fight again—White can only do so much to bring the current UFC heavyweight champion back in the cage. White isn't giving up hope on making Jones vs. Aspinall happen just because of what happened between the two competitors recently. White said, "I haven't been following the gossip." "[Jon Jones] is either back today or came back yesterday or whenever; he was in Thailand." He is home. We'll be home tonight and Tuesday, and we'll figure things out. "Tom Aspinall is the man. He's the one. If [Jones] wants to retire and doesn't want to fight, there's nothing you can do. I didn't want Khabib [Nurmagomedov] to stop fighting. I think Daniel Cormier could have lasted in it longer. It doesn't concern me. If we can, I'll do what I can to make the fight. I didn't know he was saying that ridiculous stuff. White said that every time he's tried to set up a fight with Jones, it takes a little additional work, but that's nothing new to him. White added, "It's definitely the process with Jon Jones." "I've been going through this since the day he started it." The process is what it is. When it comes time to get them fights, it's like dealing with artists. This has been true for him and Anderson Silva since they started working together. It's intriguing. "It's Aspinall's fight." We've been talking to this kid about it for a long time, and it's his fight. You can't make people fight, okay? You can't make Jon fight if he doesn't want to. We can try to get him to fight. We can throw stuff at him that make him want to fight, but we'll figure it out. White also responded to the internet petition asking the UFC to take the heavyweight championship away from Jones so that Aspinall may become the undisputed champion. Jones joked that he hoped the petition would get 200,000 signatures, but even that many won't make the UFC make a decision about the title. White remarked, "Everyone on Earth was DM'ing [the petition] to me." "Yeah, I saw it. How many fans are there around the world? There are about 400 million of them. 130,000 people want to see him naked. It's pretty dumb. White is avoiding the outside noise, which is at least partly because he is sure that a deal will get done, even though there are a lot of rumors going around and Jones and Aspinall are talking to each other all the time online. White said, "Don't believe any of this bullshit unless you hear it from here or we put out a press release." "Everything is bullshit unless we say something." I don't get caught into that crap anymore. I don't even care. I don't even listen to it, and most of the time, the stuff I hear is from you guys when I come to things like this. "I don't care about any of that stuff, though." But yeah, Jon did agree to fight Tom.
