Alycia Baumgardner says she’d love to take on the winner of the trilogy match between Taylor and Serrano.
Alycia Baumgardner, the champion, will be back on the Katie Taylor vs. Amanda Serrano 3 card as the co-main event. She talks to boxing media about her career and what she might do next, and she also shares some thoughts on the fall fight between Canelo Alvarez and Terence Crawford.
Baumgardner on if she wants to fight the winner of Taylor vs. Serrano 3
"Of course. People want to see me fight in these huge battles, so I want to fight whoever wins.
On the big women's card on July 11
"It's a blessing." I remember being at the inaugural fight at Madison Square Garden and saying, "One day I'll be here fighting." Now we're fighting as the co-main event at one of the biggest and most important places in Madison Square Garden.
On possible interest in fighting Claressa Shields
"Listen, we got Jennifer Miranda to take care of July 11, so see that and know that I am the standard for women's boxing. I am her."
What she thinks about a fight between Canelo and Crawford
You have two experienced fighters in the battle. When you think of Terence Crawford and Canelo, you think of their experience, athleticism, and skill all at once. Canelo has been in this sport for a long time. He has lost twice, but he faced the challenge of fighting Bivol and lost, but he came back. He is doing what he loves.
"It's going to be a great fight. I can't pick a winner, but experience will win out in that fight."
