Tyrrell Herndon tries to talk his way out of danger.

At the last press conference, Tyrrell Herndon showed Deontay Wilder nothing but respect, but maybe too much. The American heavyweight was picked as a warm-up for Wilder's comeback bout and has always said he was a fan of the "Bronze Bomber." Tyrrell Herndon looks up to Deontay Wilder Herndon once asked Wilder to take a picture with him while the heavy-hitter was at his best, which made him even more impressed. Before the ceremonial weigh-ins on Thursday, the 37-year-old spoke as if he knew what was going to happen, but he seemed to want the former champion to like him enough to avoid a Wilder-style ending. It seemed if Herndon knew what was going to happen and wanted to get into Wilder's head. He answered, "There's no pressure." I'm lucky to be here. It's something to hear him (Wilder) talk and be in the middle of all this. "When I was working a job at the warehouse and not having fun, I would run home on the weekends to watch Wilder knock people out. "You fast forward fifteen years or more, and I had the chance. It's all a blessing (Wilder grinned at Herndon). There is no pressure. All of this is lovely. "I'm just thankful to be here and looking forward to it." Herndon may look great now, but once the first bell rings, the 24-5 Texan is going to have to fight. Wilder has only let top ten-ranked boxers live in the ring. Wilder is the clear favorite Herndon is not even close to that and will have to show early on that he can fight with Wilder. His style is great for Wilder, and if the favorite is at 70% capacity, it should be a quick night. Wilder's form is dubious, but putting him in with someone like Herndon could backfire if it's like the Robert Helenius knockout. Helenius, who was dueling with Wilder, gave up in 177 seconds. Herndon's inactivity and resume make it look like he has a bad chance against one of the division's best punchers. Herndon hasn't fought in over a year, thus he's not ranked by any sanctioning body or on BoxRec. His past three wins were against opponents with a combined record of 22-12-1. Wilder has been fighting at the highest level since 2015, though. They are both good boxers, but only Wilder has something to lose. One is a top 15 knockout artist in the WBC while the other is a middle-of-the-road card filler. Deontay Wilder knocks down Tyson Fury Lin Esther Along with the recent losses, the proof that Wilder can beat competitors is still fresh in people's minds. But Herndon's resume isn't as strong as that. Tyson Fury almost went through the canvas twice, but he was able to turn the tables on Wilder. Then Joseph Parker and Zhilei Zhang won when Fury said he was feeling out of sorts. Wilder has an opportunity to make things right and get back on track on Friday night. But Herndon, who is a 9/1 underdog, may end it all if Wilder's wheels keep falling off. At the Charles Koch Arena in Wichita, Kansas, it all happens on BLK Prime, PPV.com, and USA iNDemand. After a face-off on Thursday, the people in charge of Global Combat Collective are ready for action when the first bell sounds. They said, "When warriors face off in silence, fireworks are coming." The scene will either show Wilder coming back to life or a new hero who is an underdog, Tyrrell Herndon.
