UFC 317 fighter cut because he was 10 pounds over the limit; fight canceled.

Christopher Ewert's time with the UFC was short; it was over in less than a week. The middleweight who has never lost a fight was signed just a few days before UFC 317 in Las Vegas to meet Jackson McVey on Saturday in the first preliminary bout. He was filling in for Sedriques Dumas. But at the beginning of Friday's weigh-ins, it was said that Ewert vs. McVey had been called off because Ewert was having problems losing weight. The official weigh-in for the UFC said that Ewert was 10 pounds over the limit. He has since been fired from the promotion. McVey weighed in at 185 pounds at the official weigh-ins for UFC 317, even though he didn't have to. Officials also indicated they want to get McVey into a new battle as soon as possible. There will be 11 fights at T-Mobile Arena on Saturday. In the main event, Ilia Topuria, a former featherweight champion, fights Charles Oliveira for a lightweight championship that is up for grabs. Alexandre Pantoja will defend his flyweight title for the fourth time against Kai Kara-France in the co-main event.
