Julio Cesar Chaves Jr. arrested by ICE agents

Mexican boxer Julio César Chávez Jr. arrested by ICE, set for deportation • Who? 39-year-old former WBC middleweight champion and son of boxing legend Julio César Chávez Sr. • What? Detained by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Studio City, Los Angeles, on July 2, 2025. DHS says he overstayed a B‑2 visa (entered August 2023, expired February 2024) and allegedly provided false information on his 2024 green card application (tied to his marriage to a U.S. citizen). • Allegations: U.S. authorities claim he has ties to Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel and faces an active Mexican arrest warrant for organized crime and weapons trafficking. • His side: Wants due process. His attorney, Michael Goldstein, called the arrest “outrageous” and “meant to terrorize,” arguing Chávez does not pose a public threat. Family supports him. • Timing: Comes just days after his high-profile loss to Jake Paul in Anaheim on June 29, 2025.
