President Trump unveils plans to host a UFC event on the White House grounds in 2026
The White House will host the UFC.
During a rally in Iowa on Thursday, President Donald Trump revealed his grandiose intentions to commemorate the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in the United States by holding a UFC event on the White House grounds sometime in 2026.
"Who watches the UFC?" Trump addressed his gathered fans. The legendary Dana White. The White House will host a UFC bout on its premises. There, we own a great deal of land. Dana will take care of it. Dana is amazing and unique. Twenty to twenty-five thousand people will attend the UFC championship fight, which will also be part of the 250.
"Some amazing things are about to happen. There will be some amateur and professional competitions, but the UFC bout will also be quite significant.
Naturally, Trump is good friends with UFC CEO Dana White, who has previously made speeches on the president's behalf, including at the Republican National Convention and even while campaigning for him in the run-up to the 2020 election.
Trump frequently attends UFC events, including as the most recent UFC 316 card in New Jersey, where a number of athletes jumped over the octagon to welcome the president who was seated cageside.
Although the UFC has previously hosted events in Washington, D.C., this would be the first time a major athletic event was conducted on the White House campus. It's unclear exactly how it would work out, but the UFC also shared the video on their Instagram account.
Trump revealed a number of his plans for the American 250, one of which is the Patriot Games, which would feature competitions amongst young athletes from all 50 states in a variety of categories.
As the UFC continues to negotiate a new television rights deal in 2026, Trump's announcement undoubtedly adds another component to the problem. The opportunity to host the first-ever sporting event in the White House is undoubtedly the icing on the cake for whatever arrangement the UFC crafts with the organization, which is allegedly looking for a new deal worth about $1 billion annually.
