Jon Jones says he has re-entered UFC testing pool

Jon Jones Leaves the Door Open for UFC Comeback Jon Jones may not be done with MMA just yet. In a twist to his recent retirement saga, the former UFC heavyweight and light heavyweight champion has re-entered the UFC’s anti-doping testing pool—just two weeks after announcing he was stepping away from the sport. The move signals that Jones, 37, is keeping his options open. In back-to-back posts on X (formerly Twitter), he hinted at his motivation, referencing President Donald Trump’s recent tease about hosting a UFC event at the White House. “Fighting at the White House?” Jones wrote, followed by a second post: “Just re-entered the testing pool, that lasted for about two weeks. Figured we’d keep everyone’s options open.” By re-entering the testing pool, Jones could expedite a potential return. Under UFC’s anti-doping policy, fighters must remain in the testing pool for 180 days before competing again unless granted an exemption. According to the UFC’s anti-doping records, Jones has already been tested twice in 2025, following five tests in 2024 and thirteen in 2023. Jones last appeared at UFC 309 in November, defending his heavyweight title against Stipe Miocic. After his retirement, UFC CEO Dana White elevated Tom Aspinall to undisputed champion. Days later, reports emerged linking Jones to a possible hit-and-run incident, where he appeared to implicate himself.
