Shakur Stevenson warns Jake Paul
Shakur Stevenson warns Jake Paul
Shakur Stevenson, the WBC lightweight champion, thinks Jake Paul can win a world title. However, he tells the YouTuber-turned-fighter to stay away from Badou Jack.
Stevenson talked about how Paul has improved in the ring on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani.
Stevenson remarked, "I think Jake has really gotten a lot better since he started." "And in the right situation, I can see him becoming a world champion too."
Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), who wants to fight for the WBA or WBC title at cruiserweight, has openly called out both Gilberto "Zurdo" Ramirez (WBA and WBO) and Badou Jack (WBC), who is a two-weight world champion.
Stevenson, on the other hand, isn't sure that the veteran approach is the best one.
"I'm not a huge fan of Zurdo..." Stevenson answered, "Yes, it's a big jump." "Zurdo has been boxing for a long time." I believe that Zurdo is a greater opponent for him than Badou Jack.
Jack (29-3-3, 17 KOs) is a proven survivor with a dangerous and clever skill set. Ramirez (48-1, 30 KOs) just beat Yuniel Dorticos and went head-to-head with Paul in the post-fight news conference.
Stevenson said, "I wasn't impressed with [Zurdo's] last fight." "I just know that Badou Jack knows how to win and has a lot of experience, even though he's older."
Paul beat Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. this summer, which might give him a short-lived world ranking. However, his path to a real title is still up for debate, even if some of the top technicians in the sport support him.
