Will Third Time Be A Charm For Serrano Against Taylor?

"Third time is a charm" is an old adage. Will Amanda "The Real Deal" Serrano ultimately win on Friday night at Madison Square Garden against Netflix and IBF, WBC, and WBO World Super Lightweight champion Katie Taylor? Taylor has beaten the former IBO and WBO World Featherweight champion twice at lightweight and super lightweight. This will be her third chance to win, and she believes it will be her third time. In their second fight in November, all three judges gave Taylor a score of 95-94. Taylor lost a point in the eighth round when he headbutted his opponent. Taylor, who is 39, and Serrano, who is 36, are very close friends. In April 2022, Taylor defended her IBF, WBC, and WBO World Lightweight belts against Serrano at Madison Square Garden and won by split decision. Serrano defended her IBO, WBC, and WBO titles eight months before this. She weighed 124 pounds in August 2021 and beat Yamileth "Yeimi" Mercado, who will be on this Friday's card against IBF, WBO, and IBO Super Bantamweight champion Ellie Scotney in a unified title bout. Mercado is the WBC champion. Serrano beat Mercado in a non-title fight in December 2021, and then beat Miriam Gutierrez of Spain, who had lost to Taylor two fights before. Serrano weighed 139 1/4 pounds for that fight, which was almost fifteen pounds more than he normally does. He lost by a split decision to Taylor. Taylor, who is 24-1 with 6 stoppages, and Serrano, who is 47-3-1 with 31 stoppages, will once again fight for Taylor's super lightweight belts on Friday. Serrano's amateur career was short, but he did win the New York State and New York Empire State titles. Taylor, on the other hand, was 170-10-1 in the amateurs and won a gold medal in the 2012 Olympics. He lost in the second round of the 2016 Olympics after getting a bye in the first round. Taylor lost against Chantelle "El Capo" Cameron in May 2023, but he won the rematch six months later. Both fights took place in Dublin, Ireland, and ended in majority decisions. Serrano lost to Taylor and also to Sweden's Frida "Golden Girl" Wallberg, who was stopped in her following fight and then quit. Serrano got back at Ela "Bam Bam" Nunez for their draw by beating her three fights later. Will Serrano finally win, or will Taylor beat her for the third time? This will be Taylor's 18th battle for a title. She has fought in the US six times. I met her in Philadelphia in March 2019 when she beat Rose Volante of Brazil, who had never lost before. She retired with a 15-1 record in 2020. Taylor was really kind and easy to talk to, and she even let me take a picture with her. She doesn't have a lot of power, and she only stops six times, thus she doesn't get into many nasty fights. Serrano, on the other hand, is known for her power and has 31 stoppages, so she will have a puncher's chance. Fans will be excited for this one since they will be cheering on their hometown hero Serrano.
