Tom Aspinall set to defend his heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane in the UFC 321 main event.

Tom Aspinall has his first job as the undisputed heavyweight champion of the UFC. Aspinall will defend his championship against Ciryl Gane in the main event at UFC 321 on October 25 at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi. Dana White, the CEO of the UFC, said on Tuesday that the bout would happen. Aspinall has been waiting a long time to fight again. His previous battle was in July 2024, when he defended his interim heavyweight title by knocking out Curtis Blaydes in the first round. From then on, Aspinall merely had to wait and hope that he would eventually get to unify the belts with Jon Jones, who was then the heavyweight champion. Sadly, Jones chose to retire from the sport, which allowed Aspinall the chance to become the unchallenged champion he had always wanted. Jones says he expects to compete again just two weeks after retiring, but it's too late for the crown. Aspinall is now focused on a new goal and a new opponent as he prepares to fight for the first time in 15 months at UFC 321. Gane will try to become an undisputed champion for the third time after failing in both of his previous tries. He lost against Francis Ngannou in a fight that was mostly grappling to start 2022. Then, in March 2023, Jones submitted him. Gane is ready to get back in the ring after winning two fights in a row, including a very close decision against Alexander Volkov last December. He aims to finally earn the undisputed title. The latest UFC pay-per-view program going to Abu Dhabi features Aspinall vs. Gane as the main event. More fights are expected to be confirmed in the next few weeks.
