Regis Prograis will meet JoJo Diaz
Golden Boy said last night that the Regis Prograis vs. Joseph Diaz Jr. fight will be the co-main event for their August 2nd Oscar Duarte vs. Kenneth Sims Jr. show in Chicago.
Both of these guys are way over their sell-by dates. Prograis (29-3, 24 KO) has lost two in a row to Devin Haney and Jack Catterall, getting knocked down three times in the process. He hasn't put on a great show since knocking out Jose Zepeda in 2022.
Diaz (34-7-1, 15 KO) is in far worse shape. He has won only two of his previous six fights, both against professional B-side Jerry Perez and 6-4-1 Jorge Luis Valencia Diaz. The former Olympian is now a cautionary story at the age of 32 because he is too small, not driven enough, and has been addicted to drugs for years. "Rougarou" doesn't have much left in the tank, but I'm not sure Diaz does either.
The DAZN main bill also has Joshua Edwards (3-0, 3 KO), a Pan-Am gold winner and 2024 U.S. super heavyweight Olympian, and Tristan Kalkreuth (15-1, 10 KO) vs. Kareem Hackett (12-1, 6 KO).
