After a terrible loss, a UFC featherweight star speaks out.

After losing a UFC fight that was disheartening, Jean Silva is getting better. Silva lost against Diego Lopes, another featherweight contender, by knockout in the second round of Saturday's Noche UFC event. This was the first bout in Silva's career that he lost via KO/TKO and the first time since 2018. Before the loss, Silva was 5-0 in the UFC, and none of his wins went the distance. In the second round, Lopes hit Silva with a spinning back elbow, which rocked Silva and made referee Mike Beltran stop the fight when Lopes followed up with strong punches. Silva first disputed the stoppage and even tried to hit Lopes after the fight was over. Silva wrote about the loss on his Instagram Stories on Sunday. Silva commented in Portuguese, "Unfortunately, yesterday the emotion got the better of me." (Translation from Championship Rounds) "I was doing well in the second round, but I rushed in with everything because I just wanted to fight." Silva fought back in the second round after getting grounded and almost ended in the first. He landed many strong punches while showing off his unique striking style. In the end, though, Lopes got the last word.
