Rampage Jackson's son pleads not guilty

Raja Jackson, the son of retired MMA star Quinton "Rampage" Jackson, has pleaded not guilty to felony charges related to an attack at a professional wrestling event in Los Angeles in August. Jackson, who is 25 years old, pleaded not guilty on Thursday to one count of felony battery that caused serious bodily damage and one count of misdemeanor battery. Felony battery can get you up to four years in state jail, but the Los Angeles District Attorney's office is trying to get a longer sentence that may add three years to that. On November 24, he will be back in court. The attack happened at a KnokX event in Los Angeles. Jackson was supposed to be in a staged match, but instead he smashed wrestler Stuart Smith (commonly known as Syko Stu) to the ground and kept hitting him over and over again, even after it was evident that he was unconscious. Jackson didn't stop until several other wrestlers forcibly stopped him. Jackson said in a live webcast before going on that he wanted to get back at Smith for a short fight they had earlier that day. Smith had assaulted Jackson with a beer can in what looked like a fight to get people to come to the event. Smith says that during the attack, he hurt his jaw in several places, got a significant head injury, cut his lip, and lost teeth. In September, Jackson was arrested and released on $50,000 bond. His father, who is well-known for fighting in the UFC and Pride Fighting Championships, has spoken out against his son's activities in several interviews and on social media.
