Jose Aldo retirement ceremony at UFC Rio
Jose Aldo retirement ceremony at UFC Rio
During a break in the action at UFC Rio on Saturday, the former featherweight champion was recognized in a long-awaited retirement ceremony that took place in the octagon at Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro. Aldo was one of the most feared fighters in all of combat sports at his peak. He defended his championship nine times at 145 pounds in the WEC and UFC and won 25 of his first 26 fights.
Aldo, who is now 39, had an emotional moment in the cage with his wife and kid five months after his last bout. At UFC 315 in May, Aldo lost a disputed unanimous decision against Aiemann Zahabi. After that, he said he was retiring. He had the chance to put down his gloves for good in the octagon on Saturday.
