Max Holloway responds to Charles Oliveira

Charles Oliveira made it obvious what he wants next after surging into a wild Brazilian crowd to celebrate another win in Rio de Janeiro. "Hey, Hunter (Campbell)," Oliveira said through an interpreter during his octagon interview with Michael Bisping. "Charles Oliveira and Max Holloway, BMF, let's make that happen." After Oliveira won by submission in the second round over Mateusz Gamrot at UFC Fight Night 261 at Farmasi Arena, he made a big callout. Oliveira not only improved his record as a UFC fighter in Brazil to 7-0, but he also set new records for most stoppage wins (21) and most submissions (17). Now that Holloway has had a great performance and called out the incumbent BMF champion, the only thing left to do is see whether he is interested. We got an answer just after Oliveira won. "Why wouldn't I want to know about that?" Holloway mentioned this on his Kick channel during a live stream. Holloway defended his BMF championship just three months ago after beating Dustin Poirier in their trilogy fight. It seems that timing will be important for a bout with Oliveira to happen, since Holloway is still recovering from a hand injury he got in the Poirier fight that needed surgery. Holloway says there's "no shot" he could fight before January. Holloway wasn't happy about the thought of sitting out almost a whole year between fights when someone suggested he fight Oliveira on the UFC White House card next June. He said, "Sitting out a year would be f*cking terrible." Holloway went on, "BMF at the White House, brother? You know what I mean? The White House card is just too far away. It feels like a year, boys. Boys, let that sink in: a year. I don't sure if I want to wait that long. We'll see what happens next. "Never say never." A bout between Holloway and Oliveira would be a rematch of a fight from 2015 that Holloway won by injury TKO after Oliveira hurt his neck, which was later characterized as a micro-tear in his esophagus. Holloway is looking forward to the chance to fight again, adding it "would be a fun one." Holloway remarked, "We've been talking about this fight." "Me and him have a past. He says that injury is to blame for that loss. I guess we have to sort it out now.
