Zaquin Moses beats Dunton-El Jr.
Zaquin Moses, a rookie star, displayed poise and technique as he beat Baltimore native Antonio Dunton-El Jr. (6-5-2, 2 KOs) by unanimous decision on the undercard of the Jaron "Boots" Ennis vs. Uisma Lima event.
Antonio Dunton-El Jr was determined, but Moses was better than him. Zaquin Moses, who is 20 years old, didn't get the knockout, but he did some good work in the ring and, most importantly, he won again.
Zaquin Moses caught the attention of fight fans when he beat Curmel Moton as an amateur. After his stunning win as an amateur, Moses went pro and signed with Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing.
In the first round of his fifth pro fight, the southpaw Zaquin Moses was on the defensive as his opponent Dunton-El Jr. pushed forward aggressively, trying to hit the overhand right. Moses kept his cool and threw a crisp right hook.
Moses hit Dunton-El Jr. with a right hook early in the second round, and Dunton-El Jr. hit back with a two-three combination. Moses hit a nice straight left-hand stroke late in the second round.
Moses took control in the third round, landing powerful combinations several times. In the fourth round, Dunton-El Jr pushed Moses against the ropes and then started to shoeshine his body.
In the second half of the fourth round, Moses walked Dunton-El Jr down while landing the right hook over and over again. In the fifth and sixth rounds, Moses kept his cool and landed his punches quickly.
After the 6-round super-featherweight fight, all three judges gave the win to Newark, New Jersey native Zaquin "Zaybop" Moses by a score of 60-54. Moses's record went up to (5-0, 3 KOs) after the win.
