Khamzat Chimaev feels Alex Pereira is a "very good matchup" and wants to becoming a two-division UFC champion.
Chimaev (15-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC) began his career by fighting in both the welterweight and middleweight divisions. He moved up the UFC rankings in both divisions until he settled on 185 pounds and won the title with a strong performance against Dricus Du Plessis at UFC 319.
The undefeated superstar is already looking for a second UFC title. Chimaev fancies his chances of getting to the light heavyweight title now that Alex Pereira has won it back (13-3 MMA, 10-2 UFC).
Chimaev told Aslanbek Badaev (h/t Red Corner MMA), "Of course I would love to fight for the second belt." "Everyone knows that the guy with the belt at 205 pounds is a solid match for me, except for when I get too reckless standing next to him. People think he has a lot of authority, but I've never felt like I was in danger. He used to fight at 185 and then moved up to 205. Now I want to fight at light heavyweight.
Chimaev made it clear that he will fight whomever the UFC sends him and thinks he can beat anyone.
"But I don't care what they give me, whether it's Nassourdine (Imavov), Reinier (de Ridder), or Anthony (Hernandez)," Chimaev said. "Just give me some big money. I have always been like that when you take it simple. You shouldn't care who you have to fight if you think you're the best.
