A judge awards Jorge Masvidal more than $5 million from Fanmio for not paying for the fight with Nate Diaz.

A default ruling was made against Fanmio, Inc. because they did not pay Jorge Masvidal for his boxing match against Nate Diaz. The event happened on July 6, 2024, at the Honda Center in Anaheim, California. Fanmio, a streaming company that promoted it, did not give Masvidal his guaranteed $6 million purse, which would have grown to $7 million if he won. Most of the judges decided that Masvidal lost the fight against Diaz. Reporters were able to get court papers that show Masvidal was only given two advances: $1 million and $150,000. The last of the money was supposed to be given out no later than three work days after the fight. On July 12, 2024, Masvidal asked Solomon Engel, the owner of Fanmio, to pay the rest of his promised purse. Masvidal took the problem of not paying to a judge in January. Fanmio did not complain about not being paid. In the U.S. Circuit Court in Miami on Tuesday, judge Beatirce Butchko Sanzhez gave Masvidal a final judgment and arbitration order worth $5,315,268.64, plus interest at the legal rate (h/t Boxing Talk). The total amount includes $4,850,000 in damages, $62,787.97 in legal fees and costs, and $402,480.67 in interest from before the judgment. Fanmio is also still suing Diaz because he wasn't paid the full amount that was agreed upon. Diaz was supposed to get $10 million for the fight. Fanmio has already paid Diaz $6 million, and Engel, who was found personally responsible, has also paid her $500,000. Both Fanmio and Engel had to pay Diaz's lawyer fees, which came to a total of $297,813.65 and $51,747.50.
