O'Shaquie Foster and Stephen Fulton will fight on December 6.
The new date, which features the Isaac Cruz-Lamont Roach WBC 140lbs title fight, is a title defense for Foster, who is 23-3 (12 KOs) and a two-time titleholder from the greater Houston area. This will be his first fight since he won back the WBC 130lbs title from Robson Conceicao last November 2 in Verona, New York.
Fulton's record is 23-1 with 8 KOs. He is moving up in weight because he wants to be a three-division champion.
The fight was supposed to take place on the August 16 PBC on Prime Video PPV, which was supposed to be headlined by the Gervonta "Tank" Davis-Lamont Roach Jnr rematch. But Davis didn't want to go through with the bout, thus the whole event was called off.
Foster-Fulton then got the co-main event spot for the WBC 154-pound title bout between Sebastian Fundora and Keith Thurman, which had already been planned. The event was supposed to happen on October 25 in Las Vegas, but it was canceled earlier this month when Fundora had to pull out because of an injury he got in training camp.
Foster will now have to wait 13 months between fights after fighting three times in 2024.
But the high level of activity last year had its problems. Last July 6 in Newark, New Jersey, Foster lost a very doubtful split decision to Brazil's Conceicao. It terminated his first WBC title reign, which lasted 17 months when he beat Rey Vargas in February 2023 in San Antonio, Texas.
Fulton from Philadelphia became a champion in two divisions, and this might be his best win so far. He said he won the WBC 126lbs belt with a clear unanimous decision over Brandon Figueroa on the February 1 PBC on PPV program from T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Fulton's win was his second in a row, both at featherweight. He lost his unified WBC/WBO junior featherweight title in Tokyo, Japan, in July 2023 by knockout to Naoya Inoue.
Fulton also won again, and this time he did it in a more dominant way than the first time they met. In a Fight of the Year contender in November 2021, Fulton won by majority decision over unbeaten 122lb titlists in a WBC/WBO unification contest.
