‘His footwork won’t be a problem’

Brian Norman Jr recently spoke with Fight Hype about his upcoming welterweight title defense against Devin Haney and why the fight is a good match for both fighters. However, Norman claims that he will demonstrate on the night that he is superior to Haney in all aspects as he seeks a victory over his most well-known opponent to date. Norman on people who believe Haney's footwork will cause him trouble. "I couldn't find any chickens, but there were a pair of wild pit bulls outdoors; they are really agile, believe it or not. I was doing my best, and I was bitten a few times, but that's part of the game and what I signed up for. But his footwork won't be an issue when I enter the ring. I'll have better feet, a better jab, and whatever you're trying to imply he's good at. On whether he is concerned about Haney's punching power. "I'm not concerned about any of that. I feel that regardless of — let's assume he was the meanest puncher ever. Guess what? I can also hit hard. What if I can make you miss and then make you pay? What if your rockets aren't landing? Did it make any difference if you didn't hit the target? No. So you may have the biggest sniper, desert eagle, while I have my lil'. 22 or whatever, and I'm going to keep spotting you, 'pop, pop, pop,' and you'll be dead by the end of the day. "That is all that matters." On sparring Najee Lopez in preparation for this fight. "Let me tell you something: That's a large boy. I'm not really sparring with him [laughs]. So, have we gotten into the ring and moved around a little? Most definitely. He is also very sharp, very lengthy, and quite technical, and I would describe him as being very similar to myself but a much larger version. "He's a very great fighter and of course not just being in the ring with him, being around him as a person has helped me out a lot."
