UFC veteran Godofredo Pepey was found dead Saturday night in a jail cell in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. Local law enforcement did not officially confirm the cause of death, but Pepey’s friend Rony Jason revealed on social media he committed suicide. Leo Guimaraes first reported the news. Pepey, 38, was arrested in June on four separate charges, kidnapping with the intent to inflict bodily harm or terrorize victim, domestic battery by strangulation, tampering with/hindering/delaying with communications, and touch or strike battery/domestic violence. He had pleaded not guilty.
