Jeamie TKV wins the British title
This afternoon, Jeamie "TKV" Tshikeva upset Frazer Clarke to win the British heavyweight title by split decision, the biggest victory of his career.
In a bout that apparently saw both fighters exhaust themselves well before the halfway mark, Tshikeva (9-2, 5 KO) had the fight's high point with a devastating left hook halfway through the eleventh. Despite receiving a point deduction due to Tshikeva's low blows, Clarke (9-2-1, 7 KO) was unable to convince two of the three judges.
It's difficult to imagine this as anything other than Clarke's demise. The 2020 Olympian, who turned pro after turning 30, attempted to make up for lost time by advancing quickly, but Fabio Wardley destroyed him in the rematch last year. Looking this bad against a mediocre domestic talent like Tshikeva is, if I've ever seen one, a career death sentence, even though that loss lasted as long as any.
Regarding Tshikeva, he has a lot of choices. Perhaps a fight with stablemate Hughie Fury as part of the latter's ongoing rehabilitation tour, or a rematch with David Adeleye following their contentious first encounter this past April would make sense.
